Hospice care is more than you think.
On the wards, in the community, and in people's homes across the UK, hospices look after people who are approaching the end of life day in, day out.
But their services are under threat like never before. Will you ask your MP to help?
The need for hospice care is rising fast – but the cost of providing care is soaring, too. And with inadequate government funding, many hospices are on the brink, with services being cut back.
That's not just a disaster for patients and families – it's bad news for the NHS, too. Politicians say they want to move more care out of big hospitals, into the community. That's exactly what hospices do – providing nearly 1.4 million home visits every year, helping keep people out of hospital.
These services could – and should – be expanding to meet the rising demand of our ageing population. But they are shrinking.
And now, with assisted dying looking likely to be introduced, it’s all the more important that hospices are well funded, long into the future.
It takes 30 seconds of your time to write to your MP.
